Guides from around the county enjoyed a brilliant weekend at Heyswood for our County Guestival Camp during the Bank Holiday weekend. We even kept the thunderstorms at bay! It was great to see over 140 Guides and 40 leaders camping in tents of all shapes and sizes.
The girls had great fun taking part in a variety of activities — all girls were active on the climbing wall, in the pool and playing Aeroball. They demonstrated their talents through drumming workshops, street dance and Zumba.
The aim of the weekend was to survive a festival themed weekend, so they survived getting wet in their bivvy shelters and honed their cooking skills with camp doughnuts and eggy bread. Who doesn’t like eggy bread? The glitter tattoo lady was very busy ahead of the neon themed evening while the girls added nail art and tie-dyeing strings to their bows.
Like many camps, the closing ceremony took place around the campfire with plenty of songs including those they made up to win a prize.
We were delighted to have a visit by our region chief commissioner, Sally Christmas.
Guides and Leaders went home tired but smiling. Plenty of fun was had and new friendships made. Thanks must go to the event team for organising a fun weekend of Guiding in Greater London West and London and South East Region.
