Brownie Bushcraft Day
On Saturday 13 May, over 300 Brownies from Greater London West Guiding, descended onto Walton Firs Activity Centre to take part in the Brownie Bushcraft event.
The Brownies took part in a range of activities from learning how to and making bivvy shelters in the woods, cooking and eating dampers over the fire, drumming, learning about mini beasts & oversized domestic animals, playing in mud! After all the activity fun, the Brownies were treated to a BBQ dinner and singing around the campfire before making their way home.
Zoe from Surbiton, aged 10, said “Thank you for the best 8 hours I’ve had in ages. The best bit was making and eating the dampers and singing around the campfire”.
The event was based around Guiding London and South East Region’s Growing Up Wild initiative to encourage girls to explore and investigate the outdoors, to get excited and engage with nature.
