Lord Mayor’s Show November 2011

Greater London West had the privilege of representing our Region, Girlguiding London and South East, in the Lord Mayor’s Show.

We invited suggestions for designs and chose an international theme of ’10 million girls around the world’. Paper hands were collected to make a peace dove and templates coloured with international uniforms displayed on a banner and around the plinths. With a giant trefoil and an inflated globe surrounded by Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and senior section holding hands; our float design was finalised.

80 girls and Leaders had an amazing experience, proud of our achievement, loud music and bubbles streamed from the float and the girls performed routines with pom-poms.

Then finally after 9 years of taking part, LaSER was featured by the BBC and Charlotte, a Guide from Cheam, was interviewed live by Clare Balding.

With 400,000 people lining the streets and 2 million watching on TV, we hope we have done LaSER proud and have shown how relevant Guiding is today.
